Last summer, there was discontent  in the college football landscape as a record number of teams were choosing to head to greener pastures.  The Big Ten added Nebraska, the Pac-10 added Utah and Colorado to get to the Pac-12, the Big East added TCU, the Mountain West added Boise State, and the list goes on.

Now, we are looking at the potential for round two to the madness of last summer as Texas A&M could be heading to the SEC.  In addition, rumors are circulating that Florida State could be headed there also.



Can Fitzgerald finally get his Wildcats over the hump to get to a BCS game?

The Northwestern Wildcats athletic department has made it clear they are looking to improve their football schedule by scheduling opponents with similar attributes.

Last week Northwestern pushed towards their goal when they made a scheduling agreement with the Notre Dame Irish for the first time in nearly 20 years. This two game series will kick off November 14 2014 in Notre Dame Stadium.  The last time the Wildcats visited South Bend the Wildcats upset the Irish 17-15 to lead Northwestern and their current head coach, then player Pat Fitzgerald to a 1996 Rose Bowl appearance. The Irish will return to Evanston in 2018.

“This is really an exciting time for Chicago’s Big Ten team as we continue to upgrade our future nonconference schedule,” Northwestern AD Jim Phillips told “We’re excited about this series and having Notre Dame make its first visit to Evanston since 1976. Northwestern and Notre Dame represent two of the finest academic institutions in the nation, and it’s only fitting that we renew our rivalry on the football field.” (more…)
